Baltimore Orioles Could Trade Veteran Outfielder to Unlikely Suitor

The Baltimore Orioles may move on from outfielder Anthony Santander and the Miami Marlins could be a potential suitor.

The Baltimore Orioles could be offloading some of their talent this winter via the trade market, especially players whose salary may exceed the threshold the front office is willing to spend.

One of the players in question is the switch-hitting outfielder Anthony Santander. Entering his final year of arbitration, the outfielder is expected to earn $12.7 million during the 2024 MLB season according to MLB Trade Rumors projections.

That same outlet also believes that due to the expected price tag, the Orioles may try to move on from Santander.

One team that could be a potential suitor is the Miami Marlins according to the MLBTR.

The Marlins have shown interest in the past and, as MLBTR points out, could be looking to supplement their outfield this winter.

However, they are currently without someone at the helm of their baseball operations department, so that would be the first step before any trades or free agent acquisitions could be completed.

Baltimore, despite trade rumors, are expected to be incredibly competitive next season. However, they will continue to operate as they always have by keeping payroll light and relying on their young core to get the job done.

Santander, who slashed .257/.325/.472 with 28 home runs in 2023, doesn't seem to be a likely fit for the Orioles roster at $12.7 million.

Santander is among a handful of player that Baltimore could decide to move on from and offload to potential suitors.

The Hot Stove has yet to be ignited, but one can already sense that frenzy that is on the horizon.
