Baltimore Orioles Continue to be Linked With Ace in Trade Market

In this story:
For the first time in a while, the Baltimore Orioles find themselves in a position where they can become major players during the offseason.
After winning 101 games during 2023, they have the ability to add high-level pieces that should push them into contender status for the 2024 season.
The clear weakness of their roster lies within the pitching staff.
While they have tons of exciting, young arms, there isn't a true ace that can go out and dominate during the playoffs.
That was clear against the Texas Rangers in the ALDS round.
The Orioles likely aren't going to open up their checkbooks and spend for Aaron Nola or Blake Snell in free agency, but they could use their prospects to get a deal done with another team.
That's what MLB Trade Rumors thinks as they continue to link Baltimore as a potential suitor for Chicago White Sox ace Dylan Cease.
"The team has a deep crop of big league ready position players who may be best utilized as trade capital, ranging from arb-eligible role players like Ramon Urias to former top prospects like Jordan Westburg," Nick Deeds of MLBTR writes.
It seems like the White Sox are ready to start rebuilding and would love to get elite, young players back in return for Cease.
Nobody has more top prospects than the Orioles.
If Baltimore wants to truly contend for the World Series, this is a trade that they aggressively need to pursue. The front office has to use this newfound success and add elite pieces.
"The addition of Cease would give the club a quality front-end starter to pencil in alongside Grayson Rodriguez and Kyle Bradish for the club’s hypothetical 2024 playoff rotation," Deeds adds.
How aggressive the Orioles will be during this crucial offseason is to be seen, but they have an opportunity to really make sure they are the best team in their division and one of the best in the American League if they trade for Chicago's ace.
