There was a lot of information that came out of the General Managers meetings that took place earlier this week. MLB insiders were able to gather information about what they were told and what was discussed during these meetings and with agents.

Many GMs were open giving out some information and that was the case with Mike Elias of the Baltimore Orioles.

Based on the sentiments that he's been hearing so far this offseason, he is hearing good news coming from free agents and their representatives.

"Our clubhouse has a great reputation, our manager [Brandon Hyde] does, they've heard it's a nice place to play -- and coming off a 100-win season, so you have a good shot [to win]. It seems to be very positive," he said when asked about the attractiveness of the Orioles.

That is very important for Baltimore since they can't compete financially with others around the MLB.

They were able to sell starting pitcher Kyle Gibson on what they were building last offseason when he chose them over other teams who offered the same type of contract.

Where they are lacking right now is the ability to sign these high-priced free agents.

Despite having a good foundation in place full of young stars who proved they can win, Elias knows the main factor in signing players comes down to finances.

"Then it gets into the contract details that you're competing over," he said.

Reading between the lines, what he's saying is that when it comes to players who are being offered similar contracts between the Orioles and another team, the player will likely choose to play in Baltimore.

That's a testament to what they've built.

"Just the stuff that I hear at these meetings from agents is very encouraging," Elias said.

This is good news as the Orioles enter the most important offseason in this front office's tenure.
