It seems like the drama surrounding the Baltimore Orioles and their lease agreement with Camden Yards and the state of Maryland might have come to a resolution as they work out a long-term deal.

Baltimore Orioles fans and the team overall might be able to breathe a little bit easier following the news that just came out about their lease situation at Camden Yards.

With their end-of-year deadline approaching and no deal in place, there was a chance the Orioles would be out of a home if something didn't get agreed upon.

This came after Maryland governor, Wes Moore, and the team announced they had agreed to a new, 30-year lease back in September. Issues with other political members halted that deal and forced lawmakers into a frenzy to get something done.

Worst case scenario was that Baltimore might be without a team as current owners, the Angelos family, was rumored to be looking for interested buyers.

However, it seems like a tentative deal is in place to keep the Orioles at Camden Yards.

Hayes Gardner and Jeff Baker of The Baltimore Sun report, "A potential lease between the Orioles and the state of Maryland took an essential step forward Thursday night when the Maryland Stadium Authority scheduled an ad hoc meeting for Monday at 10 a.m. to discuss extending the team’s current lease while also moving forward on a 30-year lease. Approval by the 10-person stadium authority board is one of the formal hurdles that a long-anticipated lease would need to clear. The agreement would also need approval by the three-person Board of Public Works, which scheduled a special meeting at Camden Yards for 3:15 p.m. on Monday."

That is very positive news.

Moore said recently he expects something to get worked out soon that would solidify the franchise in Baltimore under this lease agreement.

He repeated that sentiment stating on Thursday, Dec. 14, "I’m proud to say today that a long-term agreement between the Maryland Stadium Authority and the Baltimore Orioles is being advanced for approval to the Maryland Stadium Authority Board and then to the Maryland Board of Public Works on Monday."

More details about the agreed upon deal will be released if and when this actually does get completed.

But, as it looks right now, the Orioles should be staying in Camden Yards for at least 30 more years.
