Baltimore Orioles Should Trade for This Superstar Pitcher

In this story:
One area that the Baltimore Orioles need to upgrade before the start of the 2024 season is their starting pitching rotation.
While they have plenty of young, exciting arms, they're still missing an ace-level starter who could make them true contenders.
After a great regular season that saw them finish as the American League's best team, they were swept against the Texas Rangers in the ALDS round of the playoffs.
Much of their issues stemmed from their starting rotation, who was only able to give them eight innings total across three games.
The Orioles should be aggressive and make a trade in their division to acquire a superstar pitcher from the Tampa Bay Rays.
According to Marc Topkin of The Tampa Bay Times, "The most likely scenario is for the Rays to trade Tyler Glasnow."
When healthy, he's been the ace-level starter that Baltimore is looking to add.
Glasnow had Tommy John surgery in 2021, causing him to miss all but two of his starts in 2022.
He rebounded to have a 10-7 record with a 3.53 ERA across 21 starts this past season that saw him strikeout 162 batters over 120 innings pitched.
The reason why the Rays want to trade him is because he's set to make a team-record $25 million in 2024.
According to Spotrac, Baltimore is projected to have a total payroll of under $27 million, the lowest in the MLB.
If the Orioles want to add a high-end starter to their rotation, then they should aggressively pursue this trade.
Tampa Bay will be looking for prospects in return, something that Baltimore has a plethora of considering their top-ranked farm system.
It's clear that this organization could be entering win-now mode if they fill some of the holes on their roster.
Getting Glasnow in the mix would certainly make them one of the teams to beat heading into 2024.
