Orioles Quietly Working On Extending Young Stars

In this story:
The future is bright for the Baltimore Orioles.
That is clear.
They have a mix of veterans on the team who are becoming clubhouse leaders, combined with young talent on their way to becoming superstars in the league.
The Orioles shocked the baseball world when they became the American League's best team and won the AL East.
With all the talent across this roster, it's clear that Baltimore will want to keep their nucleus together for as long as possible.
According to Jake Rill of MLB.com, the front office is already formulating a plan to lock up their young stars with contract extensions.
"I’ve said it over and over, we quietly work on this in the background. I don’t want to be the one out talking about it, but obviously, that’s a part of our job as a front office to tackle that subject," general manager Mike Elias said.
It would be a smart move for the Orioles to get ahead of things, knowing that these players are their franchise's future for years to come.
"We have players here that we love, and you look at it right now and you go, ‘Boy, I wish we had those guys under contract for longer than they currently are,'" he said. "A big part of the calculus to keeping this franchise healthy is pursuing or examining opportunities to possibly keep some of these guys longer."
Catcher Adley Rutschman and infielder Gunnar Henderson are two of the guys that the front office is expected to build around.
They also have the No. 1 farm system according to MLB Pipeline and the No. 1 overall prospect, Jackson Holliday, who is projected to be called-up sometime in 2024.
There is definitely a bright future for Baltimore if the front office can keep all these pieces together.
