Free agency for the Baltimore Orioles is normally a fairly quiet period compared to the other teams around the league.

Without the ability to pay for top-end players on the market, the moves the organization is able to make largely go unnoticed.

There was a thought the Orioles might be able to change that this winter as they have catapulted themselves into contender status based on last year's performance and the abundance of elite talent on their roster.

Whether it was in the free agency market or by trade, Baltimore was expected to make some waves.

That largely hasn't come true.

They're still searching for an ace and it's starting to seem unlikely that will happen.

But, while everyone is focused on who the Orioles could potentially be adding this offseason, it also should be noted there were some departures from the roster as well.

Ryan Divish of The Seattle Times reported right-handed pitcher Joey Krehbiel agreed to a minor league contract with the Seattle Mariners after spending a little over two seasons in Baltimore's organization.

He was originally claimed off waivers from the Tampa Bay Rays in 2021 and appeared in 67 games for the Orioles. Krehbiel was largely used during the 2022 season, recording an ERA of 3.90 across 56 games.

However, he was designated for assignment after bouncing between the Triple-A affiliate and Major League roster, only appearing in six games in 2023.

Robert Murray of FanSided reported that another Baltimore pitcher was added by the Mariners after Austin Voth agreed to a one-year deal.

Voth was claimed off waivers in the summer of 2022 and started 17 games for the Orioles that season, appearing in 22. He was turned into a bullpen option during the 2023 season and was designated for assignment in September.

Both players were expected to not return, so this isn't a major loss for Baltimore.

However, this does take away two potential options they could have used in 2024 if injuries or poor performances forced them to call-up these pitchers.
