Former Padres All-Star Appoints Joe Musgrove & Blake Snell To Lead Friars To Greatness

In this story:
Whenever most analysts discuss the San Diego Padres and their potential road to a World Series, the usual names are at the forefront of those conversations. Will Juan Soto play like he's shown he can with the Nationals? Will Manny Machado continue his excellent leadership and rub off on a returning Fernando Tatis Jr?
Opposing fanbases look at the Friars' roster outside of their main stars and brush them off. They believe that they have put all their cards in too soon and that the money they have been throwing out will not be worth it. However, what if their secret weapons are two pitchers that have played multiple seasons in San Diego already?
Former Padres All-Star and Cy Young Winner Jake Peavy certainly believes so. Peavy has followed up his playing career by joining MLB Network as an analyst. He recently expressed his beliefs that Joe Musgrove and Blake Snell will be the biggest factors in whether the Padres have a successful season or not.

"If the San Diego Padres are going to do what I told you, Blake Snell and Joe Musgrove will be number one and number two high-end starters," said Peavy. "We all saw who Snell was in that Dodger start many playoffs ago. When this left-hander's on top of his game, he makes guys swing and miss at an incredible rate and can dominate any lineup."
"Also number 44, he had an incredible year. Year after year, he's just been taking steps forward in his maturation as an incredible big-leaguer. The world got to see who Joe Musgrove was on the biggest stage."

With the Padres having lost majority of their pitching prospects in the Juan Soto trade last season, it will be very important for both of these guys to show that they are here to stay in San Diego. Both of them have excelled in the playoffs and they have a special opportunity to take another leap in 2023.
Musgrove is working back from a foot injury right now but all signs have been pointing in the right direction for him to not miss too many games. Snell on the other hand has been chosen as the opening day pitcher.
