The San Diego Padres entered their Tuesday match with a prime opportunity in front of them and in fact, they also entered the ninth inning of that match with a good chance to tie up their series. They already were able to see what the San Fransisco Giants were capable of the night before and with the bullpen back to normal, everything looked like it would run smoothly.

Unfortunately, the bullpen ended up being the Friars' demise once again because they had to run through four relievers and after Seth Lugo's night ended, three more runs were allowed with the last one being from a timely walk from Josh Hader in the ninth inning.

Vibes were so high just a couple of weeks ago when the Friars were winning plenty of games and taking the Tampa Bay Rays and it's not to say that all of that has come crashing down now. The Giants have been producing clutch offense better than any other team this month and SD has been one the ropes with them in both games.

Reliever Nick Martinez opened up on how he felt after giving up one of their biggest runs in the eighth inning that allowed SF to tie the game and said he wants to just move on.

"The last two games were definitely heartbreakers," said Martinez. "We've just got to keep chugging along. It's not always going to be rainbows and sunshine, so we've got to find a way to get the job done."

The Friars know what needs to be done and they have Yu Darvish and Blake Snell taking the mound for the next two games against the Giants. Their bullpen musty come ready for these.

Fernando Tatis Jr. also admitted it was tough seeing the results of this one.

"The last two games were definitely heartbreakers," said Nick Martinez, who gave up a game-tying homer to Joc Pederson in the eighth and was charged with the Giants' winning run in the ninth. "We've just got to keep chugging along. It's not always going to be rainbows and sunshine, so we've got to find a way to get the job done."
