Padres News: SD Makes Big Lineup Change Ahead of Twins Series

In this story:
Your San Diego Padres had a lot of time to ponder what they could do better after losing two big games against the Los Angeles Dodgers this past weekend.
Nonetheless, it is a new week and they will be taking on the Minnesota Twins at Target Field for the first time since 2017. With a full day of rest behind them and vengeance on their mind to heat up before seeing the Dodgers again this weekend, expect an angry win tonight from the Friars.
They've also opted to make some interesting batting lineup changes, with the most notable one being Jake Cronenworth batting number two behind Fernando Tatis Jr.

What Should We Make Of This Move?
Cronenworth has been having himself quite the season so it looks like San Diego is trusting him to get on base multiple times tonight against against a Minnesota squad that has made it very tough for any team to score on them this season.

When it comes to the Friars, only Xander Bogaerts has been able to get on the base more than Cronenworth this year thanks to his stellar offense along with Juan Soto who has been notorious for drawing walks.
Cronenworth also has the third most hits on the squad in 2023 with 29 and just received a seven-year extension. Keep an eye on him tonight.

Other Notable Changes
Juan Soto will also be batting cleanup for the Padres in this first game of the series and that has taken many fans by shock due to his slow start to the season.
However, this pressure may prove to be beneficial for him as he has a small history of seeing success when batting in that spot. Looking back at his 2019 campaign with the Washington Nationals, the 24-year-old slugger bombed 31 home runs with a batting average of .283.

Austin Nola has also been placed in the lineup despite clear struggles this year. In 24 games with the Gaslamp Guys, he has garnered just 11 hits while slashing .151/.262/.219.
