Texas Rangers Cap from Andrew Heaney's Record-Breaking Performance Sent to Hall of Fame

Texas Rangers starter Andrew Heaney made history on Monday night and his cap will be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame.

Texas Rangers starter Andrew Heaney threw a masterful and record-breaking performance on Monday night against the Kansas City Royals

Heaney, over the course of five innings, broke the franchise record with nine consecutive strikeouts between the first and fourth innings. He flew past franchise icon and Hall of Famer Nolan Ryan who held the single-game record since July 7, 1991.

"I don't think I need to say anything more about how great Nolan Ryan was," Heaney said. "I mean, we all know that, everybody knows that. Just being mentioned with him is extremely humbling."

The southpaw also tied the American League record for single-game consecutive strikeouts.

Now, that performance will be enshrined in the National Baseball Hall of Fame as the cap he was wearing will be donated to the museum.

It's an incredible achievement no matter the circumstances. Heaney helped power the Rangers past the Royals in 11-2 fashion and was blessed with great run support.

That offensive showing was capped with a sixth inning grand slam from Adolis García to complete an amazing evening for Texas and its fans.
