'I Guess We'll Never Know!' Corey Seager Takes Shot At Astros During Texas Rangers' World Series Championship Celebration

Texas Rangers MVP Corey Seager referenced a month-old quote from Houston Astros third baseman Alex Bregman about winning the AL West.

ARLINGTON, Texas — Leave it to Corey Seager to send out the most salient message during the Texas Rangers World Series Championship celebration at the North Plaza outside Globe Life Field.

Rivalry tensions run deep, and that includes the Rangers' longstanding rivalry with the Houston Astros.

Seager, speaking to fans at the post-parade celebration, which included about 500,000 fans packed around the ballpark, referred to a month-old quote from Astros third baseman Alex Bregman.

In a social media message posted by the Astros' official X account the night the Astros won the American League West, Bregman says in a video before popping a bottle of champagne: "A lot of people were wondering what it was going to be like if the 'Stros didn't win the division. I guess we'll never know."

Seager, who was named MVP of the Rangers' 4-1 World Series win over the Arizona Diamondbacks after Game 5 Wednesday, addressed the fans during Friday's celebration and made the call back to a huge ovation from the 30,000 or so fans crowded into the plaza area.

"I just have one thing to say," Seager said. "Everybody was wondering what would happen if the Rangers didn't win the World Series. I guess we'll never know."

The Rangers rivalry with the Astros, which was already heated and included a bench-clearing fracas during one of their ALCS games, should be even hotter in 2024.

The Astros, who were the 2022 World Series Champions, were prevented from defending their title when the Rangers stunned them in the ALCS, winning the final two games at Minute Maid Park.

The teams finished 90-72 but the Astros earned the West title by winning the season series. That forced the Rangers into the Wild Card rout and on the road for the postseason until the World Series.
