Reds Stock Watch: Who's Rising in Spring Training?
Spring training is now officially in full swing. The Reds have completed nine games and have a 5-4 record.
Here are the players that have bolstered their stock so far this spring:
Will Benson
Benson has been on a mission since the start of spring training. He's hitting .286 with three RBI, three stolen bases , four hits, three walks and one home run.
He's pushing for an everyday spot in the outfield and he's off to a great start.
Edwin Arroyo
My oh my has Arroyo been good? He's one of the Reds top prospects and has shown high-end upside at shortstop.
He's had multiple big hits and has posted a .500 batting average in 10 at-bats for the Reds. The 20-year-old has five hits, three walks, three runs, a stolen base, two extra-base hits, and three RBI.
TJ Friedl
Friedl has been a base-reaching machine for the Reds. Despite hitting .308 in 13 at-bats, Friedl has scored five times on four hits and three walks. He has also stolen three bases. The talented leadoff man could be a huge asset for the Reds throughout the 2024 season.
Blake Dunn
It may seem a bit early to tell, but it would be ridiculous not to include Dunn on this list after his red-hot start. He had four hits, one RBI, one run, and one walk for the Reds and is flashing his potential early in spring training.
Elly De La Cruz
De La Cruz deserves to be on this list due to his .375 batting average and his electric plays from the plate. He's had a triple, a 470-foot home run and looks poised to be much improved this season.
Nick Martinez
Martinez has shown true promise at the mound despite only pitching in five innings. He has seven strikeouts and has only given up two hits and one run. He's a great insurance policy for Nick Lodolo and could be a stabilizing force in the bullpen if he isn't in the rotation.
