Preview: Severe storms possible for Twins-Orioles opener

The Twins are trying to nurse multiple key players back to health.

The Minnesota Twins open a three-game series in Baltimore Monday evening and if the weather cooperates the Twins will be rolling out a lineup that is only possible because of a myriad of injuries early in the season.

Baltimore is under a severe thunderstorm watch Monday afternoon and the National Weather Service is calling for "broken bands of strong to severe thunderstorms" moving through the region through mid evening. Storms that do develop could produce damaging winds and large to very large hail.

The weather models show the potential for strong storms rolling through Baltimore between 4-7 p.m. CT, so the start time, at a minimum, could be jeopardy.

The game is scheduled to begin at 5:35 p.m. CT, and if they're able to play the Twins will roll out a lineup that doesn't include star players third baseman Royce Lewis (quad strain), shortstop Carlos Correa (right intercostal strain), right fielder Max Kepler (knee) and dominant closer Jhoan Duran (oblique).

The Twins will have Manuel Margot leading off in right field against Orioles left-hander Cole Irvin, followed by seven more right-handed bats before left-handed Eddy Julien bats ninth.

After Margot, the Twins will go with catcher Ryan Jeffers, center fielder Byron Buxton, shortstop Kyle Farmer, third baseman Jose Miranda, first baseman Carlos Santana, designated hitter Christian Vazquez and left fielder Austin Martin.

You know it's a bad health situation when Vazquez is the DH.
