Los Angeles Dodgers starter Tyler Glasnow kept the Twins quiet through seven innings, and while they made a ninth-inning push, they couldn’t string enough together in a 6-3 loss Tuesday night at Target Field in Minneapolis, their fourth straight defeat.

Glasnow struck out 14 batters — the Twins struck out 15 times Tuesday night — in his seven innings of work, allowing just three hits and no runs in a lights-out showing from the mound.

Meanwhile, he got support from James Outman, who hit a three-run blast 422 feet into center field in the fourth inning, and Will Smith, who hit another 363-foot, three-run shot into right field in the fifth inning as the Dodgers (10-4) built a 6-0 lead.

Both of those homers came off Twins starter Louie Varland, who allowed seven hits and the six runs while striking out six in five innings of work.

When Glasnow came out of the game, the Twins (3-6) were finally able to put some runs on the board. Ryan Jeffers hit a solo home run 393 feet into left-center field in the eighth inning, and Carlos Correa and Alex Kirilloff hit back-to-back homers in the ninth inning to make it a three-run game with no outs.

But Buxton Buxton, Jose Miranda and Matt Wallner went down in order as the Dodgers hung on for the victory.

With the win, the Dodgers secured the series victory, but the two teams will meet again for the finale on Wednesday. First pitch is set for 12:10 p.m.
