As the Boston Red Sox continue its efforts to shed payroll, the club is reportedly making progress towards trading superstar outfielder Mookie Betts to the Los Angeles Dodgers. According to ESPN’s Buster Olney, the two sides have discussed multiple packages surrounding the 2018 AL MVP. Former AL Cy Young Award winner David Price has also reportedly been mentioned in the discussions. The 27-year-old Betts is set to make $27 million in 2020 before heading to free agency next offseason. Price still has three years and $96 million remaining on his contract. The Dodgers, meanwhile, are loaded with talented young players such as Gavin Lux, Alex Verdugo and Dustin May. SI’s Ryan Asselta breaks down the possible blockbuster deal.
