This is the world of the virtual draft. The WNBA kicked it off last week and the NFL joined the party Thursday night, but will MLB join the fray? The answer may not come; In last month’s joint agreement between MLB and the MLBPA the league built the ability to move the draft its original date of June 10th too July 20th. Who knows what will be the state of the coronavirus pandemic by then, but if the virtual draft is still prominent, MLB could learn something from the NFL Draft. SI’s Emma Baccellieri suggests some things MLB may want to implement in a potential virtual draft.
