After years of being left out of MVP first place voting, MLB First Basemen may finally have their day in the sun. 

Three first basemen are really standing out this season, performing near the top of their leagues in many of the biggest offensive categories and in some cases, carrying their teams through tough times straight to a playoff spot.

Could Atlanta's Freddie Freeman, White Sox star Jose Abreu, or Yankees rising star Luke Voit draw some first place votes in the MVP this year and break the streak? SI senior writer Tom Verducci thinks so.
