Kelly Oubre Jr. Hilariously Sized Up Victor Wembanyama While Trying to Guard Him

Monday night’s game against the San Antonio Spurs was the first chance a lot of Philadelphia 76ers players had to see Victor Wembanyama in the flesh. One of the most memorable things about the French phenom’s rookie season thus far is how opponents have been in awe of his size. It’s one thing to read that he’s listed at 7'4" (although perhaps even taller, in reality), it’s another to look him in the eye and see it first-hand.

That’s the experience Sixers forward Kelly Oubre had during Monday night’s game. As Oubre was tasked with guarding Wemby, he took a moment to see just how tall the big man is. The answer? Tall.

Oubre is listed at 6'7", so he’s nine inches shorter than Wembanyama. That’s obviously a large discrepancy, but seeing Oubre learn that he only comes up to Wemby’s shoulder really drives the point home.

Oubre wasn’t the only Sixers player who was taken aback when seeing Wembanyama in the flesh for the first time. Joel Embiid also couldn’t believe just how big the rookie is. But Embiid quickly got over the surprise and went on to drop 70 points in the game, many of them coming while Wembanyama was guarding him.
