Montrezl Harrell Proposes MVP Speech Idea to Embiid on Twitter

Montrezl Harrell wants to get involved with Joel Embiid's MVP speech if the big man wins the award.

In the event that Philadelphia 76ers center Joel Embiid wins the NBA’s MVP award this year, one of the big man’s backups would like to contribute to the speechwriting process.

“Aye [Joel Embiid] you gone let me help you wit your MVP speech I want to be like the hood translation version.”

A collaborative speech effort between Embiid and Harrell could be must-see TV.

But Embiid probably won’t entertain the joke as he remains focused and uncertain about whether or not he’ll take home the MVP trophy.

Over the last two seasons, Embiid had a chance. Becoming one of three finalists, the big man had a strong case to win the award both times. Unfortunately, he lost out to Denver Nuggets center Nikola Jokic after both seasons.

For the third-straight year, Embiid and Jokic are in the running. Two-time MVP winner Giannis Antetokounmpo is also in the picture with a strong case as well.

While everybody in the race has put on an impressive campaign this season, Embiid’s latest stretch of performances might’ve given him a slight edge, which has convinced Sixers players such as Harrell to believe he’ll win MVP this year.

In 57 games this season, Embiid has averaged a career-high 34 points. For the second year in a row, the big man leads the league in scoring per game. Not only is Embiid putting up impressive scoring numbers, but he’s doing it with efficient shooting, knocking down 55 percent of his shots.

To compare, Embiid averaged 50 percent from the field last season while leading the league in scoring with 31 points per game.

In addition to his scoring, Embiid averages ten rebounds, four assists, one steal, and two blocks. At this point in the year, Embiid’s two-way dominance is hard to overlook. And a combination of stellar play on both sides of the ball has him as the slight favorite to win MVP with most sports books.

Embiid still has 12 games to go in his campaign. If he can maintain his current level of play, it will be difficult for voters to submit their selection for another player. Then if Embiid does win the award finally, maybe he’ll consider Harrell’s hilarious proposal.
