At last, Tyrese Maxey received his ‘Out The Mud’ shirt from his Philadelphia 76ers teammate, Paul Reed.

Earlier in the summer, Maxey requested some Reed merchandise when he found out that the young veteran would return to the 76ers on a multi-year deal.

While the contract numbers weren’t revealed by the team due to the organization’s policy, it was reported that Reed was slated to earn beyond $20 million over the next few seasons.

“Do I still have to pay for a hoodie, bro?” Maxey tweeted out to Reed in July.

“At this point, the whole organization get a free hoodie,” Reed responded.

Making good on his promise, Reed gifted Maxey with a black and white combination ‘Out The Mud’ T-Shirt as the two linked up for a basketball camp over the weekend.

Considering he’s been waiting for his complimentary T-shirt, Maxey was understandably excited to get the chance to support his teammate, who’s had quite the offseason.

Prior to the summer, Reed was battling for the Sixers’ backup center spot over the last two seasons. By the end of the 2021-2022 NBA season, Reed was viewed as Joel Embiid’s backup during the playoff run. He averaged 12 minutes on the court during his first postseason as a member of the rotation.

The following year, Reed couldn’t get an automatic spot in the lineup. Battling back and forth with Montrezl Harrell, Reed was in and out of the rotation at times.

However, during the 2023 playoffs, he was the go-to backup behind Embiid once again and even collected two starts in Embiid’s absence.

Reed’s solid playoff performance earned him an offer on the free agency market. The Utah Jazz came to the negotiating table with an offer sheet that was for $23 million across three seasons. The Sixers were put on the clock with a chance to match it. While it was a suspenseful wait, Philadelphia put their money on Reed.

Now, he’s back in Philadelphia and hoping to have the most prominent performance of his career under the Sixers’ new head coach, Nick Nurse.
