Boston Celtics Add Marcus Smart to Game 4 Injury Report vs. 76ers

In this story:
Update: Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla confirmed that Marcus Smart will play Game 4 against the Sixers.
The Philadelphia 76ers will look to bounce back in their second-round series against the Boston Celtics on Sunday afternoon. As expected, the Sixers are going into the Game 4 matchup with their All-Star big man Joel Embiid on the injury report.
Lately, Embiid’s been battling a knee sprain, which he suffered in the first-round series against the Brooklyn Nets. While Embiid missed the Game 4 elimination matchup against Brooklyn and the Eastern Conference Semifinals opener against the Boston Celtics, the big man returned to the floor in Game 2 and followed up with a performance in Game 3 as well.
Barring any unexpected setbacks, Embiid will more than likely get the nod to play against the Celtics in Game 4. While Boston has been relatively healthy throughout the series outside of missing their veteran forward Danilo Gallinari, who is recovering from a knee injury, the Celtics added one of their key starters to the report on Sunday.
Boston guard Marcus Smart is questionable with a left ankle sprain. When the Sixers and the Celtics battled it out on Friday night for Game 3, Smart checked in for 35 minutes. He put up 15 attempts from the field, draining just 33 percent of his shots. Nine of Smart’s shots came from deep.
The guard finished Game 3 with 15 points as the Celtics went on to defeat the Sixers 114-102. With that win, Boston took a 2-1 lead in the series, causing Philadelphia to fall behind for the first time during the postseason run.
Without Marcus Smart on the court this season, the Celtics have achieved a record of 14-7. When the standout guard missed the Celtics’ February 8 matchup against the Sixers at home, Boston managed to pick up one of their three regular season wins against the Sixers with a 106-99 victory.
As Game 4 approaches, Smart will likely be considered a game-time decision. The Sixers and the Celtics are set to tip off at 3:30 PM ET.
