Former Sixers Two-Way Player Julian Champagnie Lands With Spurs

In this story:
The Philadelphia 76ers made a series of roster moves over the last week. Their latest move was signing the young veteran Mac McClung to a two-way contract. In order to make room for McClung on the Sixers’ roster, the team waived the rookie forward Julian Champagnie.
Champagnie, a 2022 undrafted prospect out of St. John’s, landed with the Sixers after a three-year stint at college.
Over the summer, Champagnie inked a two-way deal with the Sixers. Playing with the Delaware Blue Coats, Champagnie appeared in 14 Showcase Cup games. During that time, he averaged 22 points, seven rebounds, and one assist while knocking down 35 percent of his threes.
During the G League regular season run, Champagnie averaged 14 points, six rebounds, and two assists while knocking down 35 percent of his threes off of seven attempts per game in 18 games.
Champagnie became the third two-way player to get waived by the Sixers this season, joining Michael Foster Jr. and Saben Lee. While Foster Jr. made his way back to the Delaware Blue Coats on a G League contract, Lee inked a two-way deal with the Phoenix Suns.
Champagnie will follow a similar path. According to Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN, Champagnie has been claimed off the waivers by the San Antonio Spurs. Now, the rookie finds a new home, where he'll join the former Philadelphia second-round pick Charles Bassey, who was also waived by the Sixers earlier this year.
