Joel Embiid is Back on Sixers’ Injury Report vs. Magic

The Philadelphia 76ers will keep up with a common trend, as Joel Embiid is back on the team’s injury report ahead of Wednesday night’s game against the Orlando Magic.
Once again, Embiid is listed as questionable due to foot soreness. Dating back to the offseason, Embiid has been battling setbacks related to his foot. While the plantar fasciitis he dealt with in the offseason didn’t affect his playing time at the start of the 2022-2023 season, suffering a mid-foot sprain in November took Embiid off the court for several games.
The Brooklyn Nets matchup on November 22 was the first time Embiid missed a game due to his foot injury. He then went on to miss three games as a result. Returning to the floor after a four-game absence, Embiid appeared on the court for 16 straight games.
Once his foot soreness popped back up, Embiid missed three more games. The big man played in six more games after returning. Going into the Sixers’ January 21 matchup against the Sacramento Kings, Embiid was listed as questionable due to foot soreness.
The 76ers ruled out Embiid for the matchup against the Kings. From then on, he was listed as questionable for every game since. Ahead of the matchups against the Brooklyn Nets, Denver Nuggets, and the Orlando Magic, Embiid’s playing status was up in the air.
Before every one of those matchups, Sixers head coach Doc Rivers considered the big man to be a game-time decision, revealing that Embiid would warm up with the intention of potentially playing. Sure enough, Embiid hasn’t missed a matchup since Sacramento.
Over that three-game span, Embiid averaged 35 minutes on the floor. During that time, he put up 34 points per game while averaging 13 rebounds, four assists, two steals, and a block. The Sixers won two of the three matchups.
On Wednesday, the Sixers will host the Magic for the second and final time this season. After the Sixers struggled to maintain their big lead and ended up collecting a loss to Orlando, they’ll hope to have Embiid back out on the floor to help them avoid a two-game skid. For the time being, Embiid’s status is in question.
