Patrick Beverley Claps Back at Critics With Impressive Stat

In this story:
Throughout his NBA career, Philadelphia 76ers veteran Patrick Beverley has been a very polarizing player. He recently took to social media to show his critics the type of value he brings to an NBA team.
Along with being a trash talker and vocal leader, Beverley has made a living in the league as a hard-nosed defender. During his 11-year career, he's made an All-Defense team on three separate occasions.
Now with the Sixers, Beverley continues to bring a high level of defensive intensity. A stat recently emerged regarding his on-ball defense through the first month of the season. Opponents are currently shooting 37.7% from the field and 28.2% from three when Beverley is the primary defender. The veteran guard took this post as a chance to let his critics know he impacts the game outside of the box score.

Through his first 16 games with the Sixers, Beverley is averaging 2.3 PPG, 2.9 RPG, and 1.9 APG. Even though the numbers don't jump off the page, he's had some strong performances in big games this year.
One of Beverley's best outings for his new team came last week against the Cleveland Cavaliers. His defense on Darius Garland helped spark a fourth-quarter comeback in an in-season tournament matchup. Along with his defense, Beverley also grabbed a big offensive rebound in the final minutes and hit a go-ahead floater to put the Sixers up late. It might not have resulted in a win, but head coach Nick Nurse still gave Beverley high praise for his efforts.
Even though his outside shot isn't falling the way it did in the past, Beverley is still finding ways to be impactful for the Sixers. His in-your-face defense makes him an ideal complement next to the high-powered offensive duo of Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey.
