Sixers Make Mo Bamba, Patrick Beverley Signings Official

The Sixers officially added some new prospects.

A little over a week since the Philadelphia 76ers started making verbal agreements with free agents, the pen was finally put to paper for some of the Sixers’ newest additions.

On Sunday, Sixers President of Basketball Operations Daryl Morey announced that the team signed the 11-year veteran guard Patrick Beverley

Beverley was the first free agent the Sixers were connected to on the second day of the free agency period. The new Sixers guard brings over a decade of veteran leadership to the team. Although he had a slow start to his NBA career, entering the league as a late second-round pick in 2009, Beverley has carved out a solid career for himself over the years.

From 2013 to 2017, Beverley played for the Houston Rockets. In 2017, he joined the Los Angeles Clippers for a four-season run. Since then, he’s spent time with the Minnesota Timberwolves, Los Angeles Lakers, and the Chicago Bulls.

Beverley will add the Sixers to the list. He’s the first guard to sign with the team since Shake Milton joined the Minnesota Timberwolves on a two-year deal. The veteran guard will wear No. 22 with Philadelphia.

The second free agency prospect to join the Sixers is Mo Bamba. The former high-end draft pick to the Orlando Magic brings five years of NBA experience to the Sixers’ frontcourt. After Bamba spent four full seasons and 40 games of his fifth season with the Magic, he found himself traded to the Los Angeles Lakers at the deadline last season.

With the Lakers, Bamba saw the court for just nine games. He averaged ten minutes, putting up four points while coming down with five rebounds per game. Last month, the Lakers cut ties with Bamba by waiving him. The Sixers made Bamba their first big-man addition of the summer. He'll wear No. 7 in Philadelphia.

Philly is expected to bring back the veteran center Montrezl Harrell on a one-year deal. The clock is also ticking on the team’s decision to retain Paul Reed or allow him to join the Utah Jazz on a multi-year deal. If the Sixers move on from Reed officially, the Sixers will lose their fourth player to free agency this offseason.
