Warriors’ Draymond Green Claps Back at Joel Embiid Years Later

Draymond Green gets the last laugh on Joel Embiid.

Joel Embiid made a name for himself being one of the NBA’s best basketball players — but the 2023 MVP also prides himself on being a troll as well.

And sometimes, trolling can come back and haunt a person.

Golden State Warriors standout Draymond Green has been keeping receipts of Embiid’s troll attempts when it related to the Dubs.

This week, Green got the last laugh as he re-posted a video from the big man’s attempt at trolling the Warriors during the 2019 playoff run.

As Embiid addressed the media with his former teammate and current Miami Heat star Jimmy Butler, the center used the Warriors’ 2016 NBA Finals as a “what-not-to-do” joke as the Sixers looked to put away the Brooklyn Nets during the first round of the 2019 NBA Playoffs.

“It was really important because we wanted to get this one and go home and try to finish it... It feels good to be up 3-1," Embiid told reporters. "We definitely don’t want to be in a situation like the Warriors two years ago.”

Embiid’s comments at the time led to Butler getting up to leave the podium, while the future MVP winner couldn’t hold back from laughing.

Years later, Green posted the video on his Instagram story with the caption: “This hasn’t aged well for Jo.”

Green’s reaction comes a little over two weeks since the Sixers came up short in the 2023 NBA Playoffs. As the Sixers faced the Boston Celtics in the second round, they possessed a 3-2 lead over Boston going into Game 6.

Unfortunately for the Sixers, they dropped Game 6 at home. And when they hit the road to face the Celtics in Game 7, the Sixers didn’t have a chance. With a blowout loss, the Sixers found themselves eliminated during the Eastern Conference Semifinals for the third-straight season.

While Embiid’s Warriors-related joke stems back to the 2019 run, Green couldn’t let him off the hook this offseason.
