As the Philadelphia 76ers close out December, they are embarking on a multi-game road trip. On Wednesday, they go toe-to-toe against the Orlando Magic.

Heading into the matchup, there were quite a few reunions taking place. The most notable one will be Mo Bamba, who returns to Orlando to face the team that gave him his start in the NBA.

On the other side, the Magic employ Philadelphia’s former first-overall draft selection, Markelle Fultz, and one of their former developmental prospects, Trevelin Queen.

Unfortunately, for those who are into the reunion factor in Wednesday’s game, the two former Sixers will not get the opportunity to play.

For Fultz, he’s been dealing with knee tendinitis, which has bothered him throughout the majority of the 2023-2024 NBA season. In Orlando’s first eight games of the year, Fultz appeared in five matchups.

On November 9, Fultz returned to the Magic’s lineup after a three-game absence. He started and collected 28 minutes of playing time. During that time, he knocked down five of his 12 shots from the field, scoring 13 points. After the Magic’s one-point loss to the Atlanta Hawks that night, Fultz dealt with a long string of absences.

The last time the former Sixer took the court was on November 11. When he misses Wednesday’s matchup against his former team, Fultz will rack up his 21st consecutive absence. His eighth opportunity to face the Sixers since getting traded will be put on hold until January 19, at the earliest.

As for Queen, the two-way player will be on assignment in the G League. Queen has yet to make his debut on the Magic’s main roster and hasn’t faced the Sixers at all since he was waived by the team ahead of the start of the 2022-2023 NBA season.

The trend will continue on Wednesday when the Sixers and the Magic battle it out for the first time this season.
