Former Philadelphia 76ers veteran Danny Green is searching for a new team once again. Although the Sixers moved Green to the Memphis Grizzlies over the summer, his stint there lasted just a few games after he finally recovered from his ACL injury.

Green missed the first 50 games of the 2022-2023 NBA season. He made his season debut on February 1 against the Portland Trail Blazers. After playing in three of four matchups since returning, Green averaged three points, draining just 27 percent of his shots from the field and knocking down 38 percent of his threes.

Ahead of the NBA trade deadline, the Grizzlies shipped Green to the Houston Rockets in a three-team trade that also included the Los Angeles Clippers. Considering the Rockets are in the midst of a rebuild, a buyout seemed inevitable for Green. According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, that will be the case.

With Green set to become a free agent, several contenders are already showing interest. According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Cleveland Cavaliers, Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Lakers, and Phoenix Suns have all emerged as suitors for Green.

The Sixers could soon be among those interested in Green. While they traded him away over the offseason to land De’Anthony Melton, Green left the organization on good terms.

Over the last two seasons, Green spent 131 games on the court for the Sixers. He averaged eight points per game and knocked down 40 percent of his threes while averaging five threes per game.

The Sixers might prioritize the backup center position more in the buyout market, but Green should be a player to keep an eye on as a potential landing spot for Philadelphia. And if he doesn’t land with the Sixers, it seems there is a chance he could end up with one of Philadelphia’s direct competitors.
