Sixers Trade Target Jarred Vanderbilt is Off the Market

In this story:
NBA veteran Jarred Vanderbilt is on the move, as expected. After weeks of being a popular name on the Utah Jazz’s trade block, Vanderbilt has been traded.
However, it won’t be to the Philadelphia 76ers
Last week, the Sixers were linked to Vanderbilt as they’ve been on the hunt for a backup center. As Yahoo Sports'’s Jake Fischer noted, Vanderbilt was becoming a top target for Philadelphia.
“Vanderbilt’s name has also appeared amid the trade deadline conversation surrounding reserve big men, most notably with the Philadelphia 76ers, sources told Yahoo Sports. While teams like the Indiana Pacers have viewed the 6-foot-9 Vanderbilt as an attractive option at power forward, Vanderbilt has been described by league personnel as a leading target in Philadelphia’s quest to fortify its frontcourt reserves behind Joel Embiid.”
It’s no secret the Sixers could use another backup center behind Joel Embiid. With Paul Reed and Montrezl Harrell struggling to convince Doc Rivers they are reliable enough to contribute behind the big man during the playoffs, the Sixers are on the hunt for a third prospect to help in that department.
While Vanderbilt is undersized for the position, he brings versatility to the floor. In 52 games with the Utah Jazz this season, Vanderbilt averaged 24 minutes on the court. The veteran accounted for eight points per game, eight rebounds per game, and three assists per game.
After spending more than half the season with the Jazz, Vanderbilt is on his way to the Los Angeles Lakers. Hours before the Sixers tipped off against the Boston Celtics on Wednesday night, the Lakers, Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Jazz struck a three-team deal.
Vanderbilt is LA-bound. Joining him are D’Angelo Russell and Malik Beasley. With Vanderbilt officially off the market, the Sixers are left looking at other prospects ahead of Thursday’s deadline.

More on Sixers Trade Deadline
Centers Sixers Should Consider
With the struggles of Montrezl Harrell and Paul Reed behind Joel Embiid, the Sixers have been on the hunt to add another prospect to throw into the rotation. Here’s a look at six centers that make sense for Philadelphia based on intel from around the league.
One name that’s been consistently thrown in trade rumors for the Sixers consistently is Matisse Thybulle. The defensive standout was rumored to have multiple teams interested in services. As he navigates through another deadline, Tobias Harris revealed his message to the young veteran on Wednesday.
No Noise Until After the Deadline
Sixers sharpshooter Georges Niang might not be a name thrown in rumors for the Sixers, but even if he was, he wouldn’t pay attention. Niang discussed his past memories of playing through the trade deadline and made it clear that he does all he can to avoid hearing all of the outside noise.
