Retired NBA player Evan Turner had some fun on Wednesday night at the expense of the Milwaukee Bucks’ superstar, Giannis Antetokounmpo. The “Greek Freak” was on the podcast “48 Minutes” when he revealed that he can’t do workouts with current NBA players because he believes his competitiveness would get the best of him.

Turner, a 10-year-pro who played for five NBA teams, then commented: “Ain’t nobody coming to Milwaukee to work out wit you and your brother.”

Denial

After catching a lot of flak on Twitter for his comment, the former Ohio State star walked back on his comments, saying he wasn’t referring to anyone in particular. He explained that he knew a lot of people in Milwaukee that a lot of people won’t train with.

No matter what Turner says, anybody with half a wit knew that the comment was directed towards Giannis and his older brother, Thanasis. Perhaps Turner is just salty after his NBA career ended in 2020 at the relatively young age of 30. Or maybe Evan is just a born jester who likes poking at others to get a reaction. Whatever the case may be, Turner’s comments are sure to capture Giannis’ attention pretty soon.

Competitiveness

After the Bucks got ousted in the first round of the NBA Playoffs last season, Giannis had been quietly grinding this offseason. He also underwent a knee procedure to fix some knee issues and should enter training camp next month in optimal shape.

Giannis also revealed he would be heading to Houston to train with Rockets legend Hakeem Olajuwon. He explained that he’d rather train with retired NBA players than active ones, as working out with current NBA guys would take his edge away when facing off against them during the season.

“I don't know how to be phony. I don't know how to be fake,” he said. “That's why I kind of keep my distance, because I know that if I work out with people, it takes active players, it takes off my edge when I play against them,” Giannis said.
