Malik Beasley reportedly commits to join the All-Star Three-Point Contest

In this story:
Malik Beasley's campaign—on and off the court—to be given an invite to the 2024 All-Star Three-Point Contest has worked as the veteran sharpshooter has reportedly been handed an invite to the much-anticipated competition that pits the NBA's best three-point shooters against one another.
NBA insider Shams Charania has reported that Beasley and his teammate, the reigning champion Damian Lillard, have been extended invites, along with All-Star guard Tyrese Haliburton, Jalen Brunson, and Lauri Markkanen. ESPN insider Adrian Wojnarowski also reported that All-Star guard Donovan Mitchell will compete in the prestigious affair.

Earned a spot
Beasley was quite vocal about his desire to be in the three-point contest, where he says he'll likely give Lillard a run for his money. Beasley has been an integral part of the Bucks' offensive attack, functioning as a legitimate spot-up shooter who can ease the pressure off superstars Giannis Antetokounmpo and Lillard when the defense converges on them. Malik is currently shooting a career-high 45 percent from long distance.
The Florida State product has been shooting the lights out this season, proof of which is his 11 games where he has made five or more triples—one off the franchise record being held by Ray Allen.
"I would love to be a part of the three-point contest," Beasley shared in mid-January.
"I don't know if you noticed, but the last three years, I'm top two, top three in field goals made from three overall in the last three years. So you know, I'm saying I'm shooting the ball pretty well, and you know what's tough for me is the political stuff, so hopefully, this year, I get in. If I don't, man, I'm gonna support my guys."

Asking Lillard for advice
Beasley has also talked about asking Lillard, who's joining the Three-Point Contest for the fourth time, for advice.
"At first, I would ask him for advice because he's been in it – I've already asked for advice," Malik said.
"But at the same time, once we get out there – it's going to be fun and games – but I think when we both get to shooting, I think we're both going to try to win. Hopefully, one of us is holding the championship up at the end of the night, and that's good for the organization."
