A lot of beef was served on Monday as former NBA player turned broadcaster JJ Redick accused Milwaukee Bucks coach Doc Rivers of not having any accountability. In a scathing diatribe on First Take, Redick—who previously played for Rivers on the Los Angeles Clippers—claimed Doc is now making lots of excuses for the Bucks’ recent slide where they’ve lost three of their last ten games, including two in a row heading to the All-Star break.

Scathing criticism

Speaking to Stephen A. Smith and Shannon Sharpe, Redick didn’t hold back in his criticism of the veteran coach.

“I’ve seen the trend for years. The trend is always making excuses. We get it: taking over a team in the middle of the season is hard. It's hard. We get it. Just like getting traded in the middle of the season is hard for a player. We get it, but it's always an excuse. It's always throwing your team under the bus,” Redick said.

“They lose to Memphis. Memphis was playing G League guys and two-way guys! You look at his quotes over the weekend. Now he wants to take credit for the James Harden trade to the Clippers working out, he wants credit for that. Well, there's never accountability with that guy.”

The Bucks held a 30-13 record when former coach Adrian Griffin got axed, and Doc was installed as head coach. Since then, Milwaukee has dropped to 35-21 and third place in the Eastern Conference standings. Their last loss to the Memphis Grizzlies was especially brutal as the latter was led by relative unknowns like GG Jackson and Vince Williams Jr.
