The Los Angeles Lakers have assigned rookie center Moritz Wagner to the South Bay Lakers of the G-League, the team announced Friday.
Wagner has been sidelined by a left knee contusion since July but has been medically cleared to play. He will continue his rehab in the G-League.
The 6-foot-11 Germany native was the centerpiece of Michigan's run to the NCAA title game last season, where it lost to Villanova.
The Lakers selected Wagner with the No. 25 overall draft pick in June.
