Cavs dangle Korver, protected pick in talks for Sixers' Fultz

The Cleveland Cavaliers are believed to have dangled veteran wing Kyle Korver and a protected draft pick in trade talks centered on Philadelphia 76ers guard

The Cleveland Cavaliers are believed to have dangled veteran wing Kyle Korver and a protected draft pick in trade talks centered on Philadelphia 76ers guard Markelle Fultz, according to a report from Steve Kyler of Basketball Insiders.

League sources told Amico Hoops on Sunday that the Cavs have talked to the Sixers about Fultz's availability. Kyler added that several other teams have been in touch with Philadelphia as well.

While it's unclear if the Sixers have decided to trade the No. 1 overall pick in the 2017 draft, Keith Pompey of the Philadelphia Inquirer reported they seem to be leaning in that direction.

Kyler reported something similar.

"The belief around the 76ers is that no one currently calling the shots in Philly feels any loyalty to him, and with Jimmy Butler in town, there is a reality to the long-term -- Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons and Butler are the long-term future of the team, and Fultz is not in the picture, especially not with a big future contract," Kyler wrote.

Fultz is currently away from the team as he reportedly undergoes examinations on his bothersome right shoulder in New York.

Fultz is averaging 8.2 points and 3.1 assists this season, but shooting just 42 percent from the field, including 29 percent on 3-pointers. He is also just 21 of 37 on free throws.

Korver, 37, may help the Sixers' perimeter-shooting needs as the team has entered "win-now" mode with the addition of Butler. As multiple reports have suggested, Fultz may no longer fit their plans.

The salaries for Fultz and Korver match to make a straight-up trade possible.
