REPORT: Cavaliers To Sign Marcus Morris Sr. For Remainder Of Season

According to Cleveland.com's Chris Fedor, Cleveland is planning to sign the veteran forward for the rest of the season after his 10-day contract expires.

The Cleveland Cavaliers signed Marcus Morris Sr. to a 10-day contract earlier this month.

After not playing in a game for over a month before being signed, he has reportedly made a strong enough impression to remain with the team.

According to Cleveland.com's Chris Fedor, the Cavaliers are planning to sign Morris for the remainder of the season after his current deal expires.

In his first five games with the Wine and Gold, the 34-year-old has averaged 7.8 points, 3.0 rebounds, and 1.2 assists in 18.4 minutes per contest. He has shot 14-for-32 (43.8%) from the field, 7-for-16 (43.8%) from three-point range, and 4-for-6 (66.7%) from the free-throw line.

Morris quickly gave Cleveland a spark.

In his first game with the team, he helped lead the Cavaliers to a win with 14 points off the bench. He shot 5-for-7 (71.4%) from the field and 4-for-5 (80%) from deep.

Mar 24, 2024; Miami, Florida, USA; Cleveland Cavaliers forward Marcus Morris Sr. (24) drives to the basket as Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo (13) defends during the second half at Kaseya Center.

But he has impacted the team beyond the stat sheet. Morris has also brought intensity to the Wine and Gold.

Three nights ago, Morris was ejected for committing a flagrant-2 foul during a game that Cleveland eventually won. He later explained how he used the play to help make the Cavaliers a tougher team.

“There’s been a lot of grueling games, so I just wanted to toughen us up," Morris said. "Step in front of it and say, ‘Listen, this is what is going to be expected moving forward, and not just for today.’ Start setting the precedent like, ‘We’re going into the playoffs, and we’re not just about to have anybody come in here doing what they want to do.’”

Having played 67 career postseason games, Morris looks to be an integral part of what Cleveland hopes is a deep playoff run.
