On Tuesday, Derrick White was selected for the NBA’s All-Defensive second team. He is the only Celtics player to receive All-Defensive honors this season.

White obtained the most total points among second team players, which is based on 24 first-team votes and 51 second-team votes. The other selectees include Draymond Green, Dillon Brooks, Bam Adebayo, and OG Anunoby.

The Colorado native averaged 12.4 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 3.9 assists during the regular season. He is Boston’s only player to appear in all 82 games, a feat accomplished by only nine others in the NBA this year.

In addition to his durability, White excelled at guarding the perimeter and rejecting shots. The 28-year-old recorded a team-high 76 blocks.

White’s All-Defensive selection appears more impressive when considering the strength of his team. Boston holds a 110.6 defensive rating, the second best in the NBA.

White's defensive skills may become a key factor in the remainder of the Celtics' Eastern Conference Semifinals match-up against the Philadelphia 76ers. Game 5 of the series is scheduled for Tuesday night at 7:30 pm.
