Surprising Favorite to Replace Doc Rivers as 76ers Coach Revealed

The Philadelphia 76ers have fired head coach Doc Rivers, and the current betting favorite to replace him might surprise a lot of people. According to BetOnline, former NBA player JJ Redick is the current betting favorite to replace Doc Rivers as the next 76ers head coach.

Redick played for Rivers with the LA Clippers, and also played for the Philadelphia 76ers from 2017-2019. There have been reports about Redick's potential interest in coaching; however, it is surprising to see him favored for this job, considering he has not yet coached at the NBA level.

There is also an ironic element to Redick being favored to replace Rivers, as the former sharpshooting guard has been openly displeased with some of the comments Rivers made about the Lob City Clippers that Redick played with.

During a recent podcast episode, Redick said, "Everybody I've talked to about [Lob City] has kind of owned their own mistakes, if that makes sense, and realizes especially later on that we still could have had something special. And to not get any of that accountability from [Rivers], and the interesting part too, is he talked about players not getting along. He was brought in as a personality manager... and he was the GM. So if people weren't getting along, it's kind of on you."

While betting odds should always be taken with a level of skepticism, it is certainly surprising to see Redick listed as the favorite to replace Rivers in Philadelphia.
