Clippers' Approach to James Harden's Trade Request Revealed

In this story:
As training camp approaches, the pressure is building for the Philadelphia 76ers to figure out their James Harden situation. While recent reporting suggests Philadelphia is willing to bring the unhappy star into camp, history shows that may not be wise.
With Harden having shown a willingness to cause chaos when seeking a trade, the 76ers could be playing a dangerous game by refusing to trade their star guard. In a recent ESPN television appearance, NBA insider Marc Spears revealed that the LA Clippers - Harden's preferred trade destination, understand this dynamic.
"From what I'm told about the Clippers, is that they're not being desperate," Spears said. "They feel like they're going to keep watching this fire burn. And at some point, the Sixers could be desperate, and they are going to get pennies on the dollar instead of the big demands that Daryl Morey is making."
If Spears is correct, and all signs point towards that being the case, the Clippers are approaching this situation the right way. Rather than meeting Philadelphia's high asking price for their unhappy star, the Clippers are showing patience with the belief that the 76ers will soon grow desperate.
This has long felt like the approach LA was taking, as they have understood the situation the 76ers are heading towards. The Clippers' biggest risk with this approach was always the possibility that it gave the 76ers more time to mend things with Harden, but with the former league MVP so publicly adamant about never playing for them again, that seems to be a non-factor now.
