After being let go as head coach of the Philadelphia 76ers, Doc Rivers is expected to take an analyst job with ESPN. During a recent video uploaded to social media, Rivers' former player Kevin Garnett reacted to the news.
"Congratulations to Doc, getting his new venture at ESPN... He has great insight for the game, he has great knowledge of not just the history, but schemes. He's a true, true coach, and a true player. He has the understanding of both, and how both worlds work. I think he did a great job as a coach understand players, and I think when he goes to articulate the game, I think fans are gonna find it encouraging."
Shout out to Doc on his move to ESPN. Not his first time on that side but after doing what he did as a coach, he bout to shake shyt up! Congrats 🫡 pic.twitter.com/VYJgpipQfW

Garnett won a championship with Rivers as a member of the Boston Celtics in 2008, which helped form a strong bond between them. Rivers became the head coach of the LA Clippers after his time in Boston, and then became the Philadelphia 76ers head coach following his time in Los Angeles.
Rivers has worked as an analyst before, so this will not be foreign work for him, but it has been a while since he has been away from the sidelines. With a lot of regular season success to go with his one title, Rivers is often considered one of the top coaches in league history, even with his playoff troubles since leaving Boston.
