Report: Major Update on Kevin Durant's Injury Return

Phoenix Suns star Kevin Durant has been sidelined since March 8th when he rolled his ankle in pregame warm-ups. It was a bad looking ankle sprain for Durant, who has not played since; however, a new update from NBA insider Shams Charania indicates that Durant could be making his return at the end of this month.

According to Charania, the Suns are hopeful that Durant will return at the end of March or the beginning of April. This would of course give him at least a few more games with Phoenix before entering the playoffs, as Durant has only played in three games with the Suns since being traded from the Brooklyn Nets.

This is significant for a lot of reasons, but at the top of that list is seeding. The Suns are looking to hold onto home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs, as they currently sit in fourth place. Just a half-game above the LA Clippers, Phoenix is trying to hold off their Pacific Division rivals in the standings.

A first round matchup between the Clippers and Suns is looking increasingly likely, as those two teams project to finish fourth and fifth. The Suns and Clippers will face off on the last day of the regular season, which could determine which team gets fourth and which team gets fifth.

With this latest update from Charania, it seems as if Durant will be available for that game, which obviously adds a significant level of intrigue. Needless to say, the Suns need their superstar forward back before the playoffs start if they want to achieve their goal of winning a championship. Many people have Phoenix coming out of the Western Conference if they are fully healthy, but as of right now, Phoenix is still awaiting Durant’s return.
