WATCH: Victor Wembanyama Subtly Taunts Dillon Brooks

In this story:
Prior to Friday night’s showdown between the San Antonio Spurs and Houston Rockets, Dillon Brooks downplayed seeing Victor Wembanyama for the first time. When asked about seeing the rookie sensation, Brooks said, “He’s tall. That’s really it.”
While it’s unknown if Wembanyama saw these comments from Brooks, the Spurs rookie pointed at the Rockets forward after a made shot over him during Friday night’s win, and the clip has been going viral on social media.

Wembanyama struggled early on offense in this game, but came alive when it mattered most. Always stifling defensively, that end of Wembanyama’s game never slumps, but his outside shot wasn’t falling in this one. That said, the first-overall pick was able to get it going inside the arc to help close out an exciting win over the Rockets.
As previously mentioned, there’s no way of knowing if Wembanyama pointed at Brooks in response to his comments or if it was just a competitive spirit moment for the rookie, but it was fun either way. Brooks often put a target on his back during his time with the Memphis Grizzlies, and while that’s something that can elevate his own play, it can certainly elevate his opponents as well. Whether or not Wembanyama had any added motivation for this matchup is unknown, but he got the better of Brooks in this one either way.
