NBA Standings Update: A look at the Eastern Conference (11/13)

In this story:
It is a new week in the NBA and here at All Hawks, I like to take a look at the Eastern Conference Standings going into the week to see how things are playing out so far.
To start with Atlanta, they find themselves 5th right at the start of the week. After a four-game winning streak, Atlanta had it snapped against Oklahoma City last week. The Hawks defeated the Magic in Mexico City last week, but then had a bad loss to a Miami Heat team that was missing Jimmy Butler, Tyler Herro, and Caleb Martin. Atlanta is off today and begins its play in the in-season tournament tomorrow vs Detroit.
At the top, Philadelphia continues its strong start to the season after the James Harden trade and both Joel Embiid and Tyrese Maxey might be legitimate MVP candidates. The 76ers could not have hoped for a better start.
It has been business as usual for Boston. The Celtics have arguably the best lineup in the NBA and are the odds-on favorite to win the title still.
After a bad start to the year, Miami has now won five in a row and finds themselves at 6-4 and in third place in the Eastern Conference. They have been inconsistent, but they are a tough team to play mo matter what.
The No. 1 offense in the NBA belongs to the Indiana Pacers, who are in 4th place at the start of the week. Tyrese Haliburton is leading the NBA in assists as well. Defensively there is a lot to figure out, but it's been a nice start for the Pacers.
Orlando, New York, and Milwaukee round out the top eight. Milwaukee has not had a healthy lineup this past week and is still figuring things out with Damian Lillard. I doubt they stay down there for long.
Brooklyn and Toronto are at No. 9 and No. 10. Both teams have intriguing talent, but I would bet on them being around the play-in tournament line for much of the year.
The five teams that would be outside of the playoff picture if the season ended today are Cleveland, Chicago, Charlotte, Washington, and Detroit. Cleveland is the most surprising on the list, considering how good they were in the regular season last year. The Cavs have not been healthy this year though and once they are, I expect them to be a better team.
