Bam Adebayo Says Fatigue Factored In Miami Heat's Loss To Nuggets In NBA Finals

Miami Heat center Bam Adebayo is touring with the NBA's Basketball Without Borders camp in Johannesburg, South Africa

Nearly two months have passed since the Miami Heat lost to the Denver Nuggets in the NBA Finals.

It was the Heat's second Finals loss in four years but center Bam Adebayo feels they had somewhat of an excuse for falling to the Nuggets. Despite a slew of injuries during the regular season, the Heat became just the second No. 8 seed to make it to the Finals.

Adebayo said they just simply ran out of gas. He spoke on last year's run to ESPN while participating in the league's Basketball Without Borders campaign in Africa.

"I feel like we just came up short because we had [among the most] injuries in the 2022-23 season," Adebayo said. "[Through] all those ups and downs throughout the season... I feel like fatigue had a toll," he said of the 4-1 loss to the Nuggets.

The Heat are once again expected to contend for a championship. They return most of the roster except for Max Strus, Gabe Vincent and Victor Oladipo. Most of the offseason has centered around their pursuit of Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard, who requested a trade to Miami earlier this month.
