Damian Lillard’s Agent Warns Teams Outside of Miami Heat Against Trading For Him

Aaron Goodwin has called potential trade partners to warn them against trading for Lillard

Damian Lillard’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, is reportedly reaching out to teams other than the Miami Heat and warning against trading for him.

According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, "Goodwin is telling organizations outside of Miami that trading for Lillard is acquiring an unhappy player."

Lillard reportedly only wants to play for the Heat, but the Portland Trailblazers front office wants to find the best return. Goodwin took matters into his own hands. Teams such as the Los Angeles Clippers and Boston Celtics have shown interest in Lillard this offseason. Due to Goodwin’s calls, these teams may decide to reconsider any offers they were going to send to the Blazers.

Many teams will back off due to the idea that Lillard will be unhappy playing there. As teams will have to give up much of their future to acquire him when he does not want to be there.

Lillard’s contract does not have a no-trade clause, however, that does not seem to matter as he appears to have almost the same amount of leverage. Instead of having the ability to refuse a trade, he is refusing to play anywhere except Miami.

A three-team trade is rumored necessary for Portland to be content with their return for Lillard. They are reportedly not interested in Heat guard Tyler Herro due to their already young backcourt of Scoot Henderson and Shaedon Sharpe.

With Goodwin attempting to convince organizations against trading for Lillard, the Blazers may be left with no choice but to accept Miami’s offer.
