Kyrie Irving, Luka Doncic Experiencing Same Growing Pains in Dallas as Brooklyn Nets

The Dallas Mavericks with Kyrie Irving and Luka Doncic are dealing with similar issues as Brooklyn Nets, the Miami Heat's opponent

If you listened to postgame press conferences from the Brooklyn Nets and Dallas Mavericks the past two days, they sounded awfully similar.

The Nets expressed their frustration of entering tonight's game the Miami Heat on a five-game losing streak. The Mavericks are just 3-7 in their last 10 games, falling lower on the playoff ladder.

The common theme between the team is both are having problems after midseason trade. Nets guard Spencer Dinwiddie said it feel like the team is still in training camp after the blew a late lead against the Cleveland Cavaliers, allowing the Heat to take possession of the No. 6 seed in the Eastern Conference.

"At the end of the day, we've been in every game," Dinwiddie said. "Obviously, you want results and we're trying to do this at an accelerated pace. We're basically in training camp for this group."

The Mavericks took it a step further when stars Luka Doncic and Kyrie Irving voiced their feelings.

"It's really frustrating," Doncic said. "I think you can see it with me on the court. Sometimes I don't feel it's me. I'm just being out there. I used to have really fun smiling on court, but it's just been so frustrating for a lot of reasons, not just basketball."

The Mavericks, who made the Western Conference finals last year, are now in danger of missing the postseason. They are just 6-8 since form the dream pairing of Doncic and Irving.

"When I was coming here, I knew that giving up Dorian Finney-Smith or giving up Spencer [Dinwiddie], that was gonna be a change to any lineup that they had going," Irving said. "Different minutes. Guys get in and out of the lineup. I haven’t necessarily been as healthy as I would like to be at this point in the season. Other guys haven’t been as healthy. Me and Luka as well, more importantly. But again, there’s no time for excuses. We just got to lace them up and get ready.”

If anything, this should quiet the fans who were disappointed when the Heat failed to make any major moves at the trade deadline. It's not easy to form cohesion this late in the season.
