The trade rumors involving Portland Trail Blazers guard Damian Lillard and the Miami Heat have been the talk this offseason.

Well it seems a part of it has been clearly established.

In a recent interview with ESPN’s Marc Spears, Lillard confirmed that there has been a trade request made on his behalf.

“I’m not gonna speak on the Blazers, a lot of love and respect but I won’t speak on the Blazers,” Lillard said. “I can say that there was [a trade request made] and I would just prefer not to speak on the Trail Blazers.”

Though he didn’t say which team he wanted to be sent to, all signs point to the Heat as the preferred one. On Jun. 8, Lillard went live on Instagram and let everyone know the Heat is the most suitable fit for him. He also shed light on his close connection with their center Bam Adebayo.

“Miami is the obvious one,” Lillard said on the post. “Bam [Adebayo] is my dawg. Bam is my dawg for real. Miami is the obvious one.”

It’s obvious the chemistry is felt on the other side. On Aug. 18, Lillard’s new single Judgement Day went viral. Soon after, Adebayo reposted the song on his Instagram story with the caption “Wassup Bwaaa @damianlillard 👀”

Recently, Lillard went on Instagram and unfollowed the Trail Blazers. He then followed former Heat veteran Udonis Haslem.

The Philadelphia 76ers and Los Angeles Clippers are other teams rumored to be interested in acquiring the seven-time All-Star. But he isn’t showing the same level of interest in them, making Heat fans confident for a bright future.
