Bill Simmons Proposes Miami Heat Trade Tyler Herro For DeMar DeRozan, Alex Caruso

In this story:
The Miami Heat have the assets to make a splash before Thursday's trade deadline, but satisfaction with their current lineup could prevent that.
Despite this, Heat guard Tyler Herro continues his reputation as a trade piece across social media leading up to the Feb. 8 deadline. The latest is a proposed deal by sports media personality Bill Simmons. He created a trade that would send Herro and a first-round pick to the Chicago Bulls in exchange for veteran DeMar DeRozan and guard Alex Caruso.
“I'm going to throw a couple fake trades into this podcast. I want to see Miami get Tyler Herro and an unprotected first to Chicago and get back [DeMar] DeRozan and [Alex] Caruso…Miami just goes all in. They use the Herro chip," Simmons said on 'The Bill Simmons Podcast'. "They use an unprotected first. Maybe they have to throw [Nikola] Jović in that. I don’t know what the value of DeRozan and Caruso together is. They keep [Terry] Rozier. They have [Jimmy] Butler, [Jaime] Jaquez, Caleb Martin, Bam [Adebayo]—keep going and going. That’s a trade that would scare me as a Celtics fan.”

Herro is having a career year in multiple ways, including points, assists, and steals. However, efficiency is the former Sixth Man of the Year's top weakness. He is shooting 42.9 percent from the field.
Caruso brings balance to the Heat's backcourt, which is heavy on offense with Herro, Rozier, and Duncan Robinson. Meanwhile, DeRozan shares a similar playing style with Butler, which raises the most questions around the deal.
