Miami Heat Make Two Roster Moves A Day After Trade Deadline

In this story:
The Miami Heat had a quiet day on the trade deadline but were somewhat more active Friday.
They made two roster moves by signing guard Alondes Williams and are expected to waive former first-round pick R.J. Hampton. The news was first reported by ESPN.
Williams, who was in Heat training camp last fall, is averaging 20 points for the G League affiliate in Sioux Falls. He is expected to follow in the long line of Heat developmental projects that include Duncan Robinson, Haywood Highsmith and Orlando Robinson.
Hampton was the No. 24 pick by the Orlando Magic in 2020 but has struggled to find a home in the league. This was his first season with the Heat, averaging 1.3 points and one assist in eight games.

Hampton averaged 1.3 points and 1.0 assists in eight games during his first season with the Heat. He spent most of the year struggling in the G League. He averaged just 11.6 points, 5.3 rebounds, four assists on 45 percent shooting.
Even though the Heat made no significant moves, there is still time for them to find a veteran player during the buyout period. Last year they signed forward Kevin Love after the deadline.
