In the Miami Heat’s regular season opener, they took down the Detroit Pistons in a nail-biting 103-102 victory.

The Heat’s top play of the night came early in the fourth quarter, with Miami leading by 15.

After a missed three-pointer by Cade Cunningham, center Thomas Bryant grabbed the rebound. Tyler Herro brought up the ball before dishing it to a cutting Duncan Robinson. Bryant cut through the lane, receiving a bounce pass from Robinson. He finished the play with a monster slam dunk, adding to the Heat's momentum.

Miami’s largest lead of the game came soon after, when they led the Pistons by 19. However, Detroit fought back to within one point in the final two seconds of the game. Thankfully for Heat fans, Jimmy Butler locked down Cunningham on the final play.

Bryant and Robinson played key roles off the bench tonight. Bryant finished with eight points, six rebounds, and three assists. Robinson concluded his night by scoring 15 points on 60 percent shooting in 22 minutes.

A worrying start to the season for the Heat because the Pistons finished as the No. 15 seed in the East last year. Cunningham scored 30 points along with nine assists on 48.1 percent shooting.

Miami will have to play much better if they hope to take down their rival Boston Celtics on Friday.
